In response to the recent devastation brought on by Hurricane Matthew, UFCW Local 1208 has established a Hurricane Matthew Disaster Relief Fund, in partnership with United Way, to provide support for the nearly 4,000 UFCW members and workers of Smithfield Tar Heel, NC, living within the several counties of North and South Carolina who may have experienced a total or partial loss, due to this natural disaster. Our goal is to assist victims with their immediate unmet needs not covered by government programs or other traditional relief sources.
UNMET NEEDS (may include, but not limited to):
Food and food supplies
Fuel Expenses
Bedding
Clothing
Aid in immediate placement at a local shelter
Assistance with transitional housing
QUALIFICATIONS:
Resident of a FEMA-classified county who has suffered severe, moderate, or minor damage
Need will be assessed based on FEMA registration
Have experienced a documented total or partial loss due to Hurricane Matthew
Member of UFCW Local 1208 (current union ID or Smithfield pay stub required to verify membership)
Must notify United Way of unmet need by Friday, October 28, 2016
